BCCI Confirms India Tour of Australia after Lockdown

BCCI Chief Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that the much awaited Indian National team's tour of Australia will go ahead in December.

The Indian team will fly down to Australia for the matches in December. Ganguly said that when the Indian team lands they will have to quarantine themselves for 14 days.

Ganguly wants the number of quarantine days to reduce because 14 days is a very long time. He doesn't want the players to become demoralised and bored sitting inside the room. This is why he requested fewer quarantine days

. The Indian team will tour under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. They will first play three T20s, then four Tests and followed by three ODIs in December and January. Ganguly added, "In relation to the COVID outbreak, Australia and New Zealand have been in good positions except Melbourne. So hopefully the situation improves and hopefully the quarantine days will be less  and we can get back to cricket."

West Indies is currently involved in a Test series against England in the United Kingdom. When they arrived in the United Kingdom, they had spent 14 days in quarantine. After this was the Pakistan vs England match.

When Pakistan landed in the UK even they were quarantined. Ganguly said, "It is going to be a tough series because the Australian team is very strong. It is not going to be what it was two years back when India had beaten Australia. Australia is a strong team but so is India. We have the batting, we have the bowling

. We were so successful in England, in  Australia, in Pakistan we were getting 400-500-600 runs in Test matches. The Indian team needs to focus on batting." The last time when India toured Australia for a Test series in 2018 – 19, India had beaten Australia.
